The Speech and Language Therapy Team recognise that many people in our care have problems with communication and higher level thinking skills. Furthermore, we recognise that these problems impact widely on patients’ lives. Many of these patient’s are also at risk of choking or aspirating as a result of swallowing difficulties and require the expertise of the Speech and Language Therapist. Our aim therefore is to minimise their difficulties and promote successful participation in rehabilitation.
About Us As part of an inter-disciplinary team we provide comprehensive assessment, treatment and consultative services to patients (and their families) with communication and swallowing disorders.
Our team of specialists offer services to those patient’s with psychiatric illness, developmental disability, acquired brain injury and certain degenerative disorders, including dementia and Huntington’s Disease.
We are active participants in providing teaching or educational services to staff, related organisations and family members.
